...Freelance Whales!

March 16th will see the release of "Weathervanes", the epically-brilliant debut album from New York buskers Freelance Whales. Originally self-released last year, its re-release comes hot on the heals of debut 2-part single "Generator", one of the many album highlights. Get your copy here from the 22nd of February.

So how best to describe the sound other than "like somebody wired their heart to a synthesizer".... which does sums them up rather nicely it must be said. Well, there is no denying lead singer sounds a lot like Death Cab For Cutie and The Postal Service frontman Ben Gibbard. The similarity doesn't stop there though. Freelance Whales have managed to combine the best bits from both bands with glockenspiels, banjos and a lot more thrown in!

Weathervanes is beautifully captivating and toe-tappingly joyous in equal measures and without a doubt one of the most exciting debut albums of recent years! 8.5/10
"Kilojoules"
fits into the toe-tapping category!
