King Creosote - Flick The Vs

No Way She Exists

Coast On By

Pipping The Twilight Sad to 8th place is King Creosote with "Flick The Vs". I only really got into him this year once I'd started this whole blogging malarky, and that in itself has made it worthwhile. The main highlight for me is "Coast On By". That's 3 weeks (and counting...) I've been humming it for now!

As no doubt you've seen on every other blog by now, King Creosote is inviting you to record his new album "My First Bit of Strange in 13 Years" live at Homegame next year. In fact he's insisting... no entry for anyone without a recording device of some description! Tickets for Homegame 2010 (12th-14th March) are on sale over at Fence Records for the bargain price of £75.

If anyone wants their hands on the mp3's recorded at the Halloween Fence thingy, let me know and I'll upload them.

Ten Tracks!

Hi guys and gals! A while ago I came across the amazing and Scottish, Ten Tracks website and it's great collection of exclusive tracks from up-and-coming bands, the majority of which are also Scottish! So it's about time you got your arses over there and bought a few of these rare gems for yourselves. For those sceptics out there here's a few rarities from Meursault and King Creosote for you to salivate over (not free I'm afraid but they'll only set you back a few pennies)

Meursault - For Gummo

King Creosote - Punchbag
This is a temperamental wee bugger (and quite a big mp3) so be patient! Or have a listen to the preview on Ten Tracks here!

Every month, new "ten track" bundles are released and you can download the whole lot for only £1 or 30p for a single track! There's exclusive remixes of the entire debut album from FOUND, some belters from Jesus H. Foxx and Mitchell Museum, and even a wee treat from Mr's Yorkston and Cowley!

Pop on over and have a wee look and get your pennies out!

King Creosote & Romulo Froes - Trocabrahma Session (2007)

This is a wee gem of a session if I don't say so myself. KC popped over to São Paulo in May 2007 to record a session with Brazilian samba musician, Romulo Froes for the Trocabrahma podcast. The entire podcast, including interviews with KC and his band as well as his Brazilian hosts, can be downloaded in mp3 form.... HERE!

King Creosote - Black Cab Session (17/08/08)

Back to King Creosote! On the way to the Green Man Festival back in 2008, KC took a ride in the Black Cab and performed "Twin Tub Twin" acapella with Pip Dylan, a.k.a "The Dear" (see the video!).

It's worth watching the video for the puns at the end!

K is for .....King Creosote!

Thank goodness for Hallam Foe! When I first watched the great wee film I fell in love with the soundtrack and one song in particular, "The Someone Else" by the amazing King Creosote a.k.a Kenny Anderson. A few Amazon searches later and I'd amassed a good chunk of his back catalogue.

New album, Flick The V's is up there with his best and is sure to feature on a few "Best of" lists come December. KC is also the founder of Fence Records which features a wealth of great bands like FOUND, The Pictish Trail and James Yorkston to name a few.

Download: King Creosote - Vic Galloway Session (18/05/09)

Tracklisting:
1. Pale Shelter (Tears For Fears cover)
2. Curtain Craft (from Flick The V's)
